Who: Marco and Asano Rin
Status: Closed
Style: Prose
Where: Tsuchisato
When: Week 6, Day 6; Morning
Rating: G-PG?
Warnings: WTF?

When Marco wakes up, it doesn't immediately comes to his attention. That his bed is cold and hard, and that his pillows moist and springy and smells a lot like moss. And warm. Boy, that heat starts to wakes him up - he's pretty sure the airship has air conditioning. As his eyes starts to blurrily open, he also notices something that the Strahl has also kept away:

Morning song by nearby birds.

God is this what Tobias has to endure every morning? Marco swears not to tease Tobias on his new lifestyle. Or maybe not - the guy provides material that not even the Ax-man can give.

He opens his eyes.

He's not inside anywhere.

The sun is blaring in a way where it shouldn't have in the airship.

There's wind when there's shouldn't have been.

There is a bed, but not a bed of comfort but a bed of rock.

Marco's first reaction is to scowl.

"Oh for crying out loud."

"No." Marco gets up and pats down the leaves off of his pants. "Unless Balthier and Valeria finally hit it off and decided to elope without us as witnesses, I can't imagine them just dumping us in the backwoods and just leave."

He looks around, and then looks up at the trees, at the sky where it starts to become a clear blue. Then Marco gets the sudden memory of a man screaming for his brother back, fire in the background.

"Hang on. You know that guy who burned a forest down some time ago? He said something about the gods have kidnapped his brother. What if they decided to nab Balthier and Val as well?"

He looks at her, questioning. "Maybe it's about the airship?"

"How?" Marco asks. "If they aren't in Kannagara anymore, then how can we find them? It's not like we can have a multi-dimensional phone to call them up and say, 'Can we get our ride back now?'"

He sighs and rakes his hand against his hair. Even yanks it in frustration.

"Alright. On the side chance that they might, I dunno, come back while completely trashed, then we might start looking around. Ask around on the network. It's not like you can't see a giant airship flying around uncloaked."

Marco sighs again, this time rubbing his head. Right then. See it through the bitter end, and all that jazz. Man, Marco is not fond of that. Mostly because it's such a close call or sometimes it's just a lost call. Either way.

However, it's hard to say to make anything a lost call definately in Kannagara. If they can die and be revived, what other normal rules are thrown out the window? Gravity? Einstein's theory of relativity? Pizza Hut?

"So what's the first thing we do?"

"Yeah, that's one way." Marco is looking up at the sky.

"I'll try to go head and scout the area. Osprey, wolf, that sort of thing. See if I can find any traces."

After saying that, he starts to morph after shrugging off his yukata (which he uses as a bathrobe at times as well). He shrinks and grows feathers and soon enough, he's an osprey.

{If only everything is convenient,} Marco says darkly. He turns to his non-expressive raptor face at Rin, yellow eyes glittering.

{Check out the village. If anyone is living there, ask around. I'll check out the wilderness.}

Except Marco knows for a fact that they aren't going to find anything. He doesn't how he knows that, but he just knows. Things come and go, and if death is nothing more than an inconvenience, then there's disappearance that can make it permanent. The new Death in Kannagara, as it is.
