[log] We're Hunting for Tobis

Who: Deidara, anyone else
Status: Complete
Style: Action
Where/When: Pretty much everywhere, taking up a fair chunk of the day

[Deidara is flying, for the most part trying to avoid detection as much as a giant white clay bird flying low in the sky can. He's looking for Tobi, who has angered him and, therefore, deserves to die a painful, explosive death.

...Feel free to say hi!

[ And it just so happens to be that Madara had been enjoying a rather leisurely dip in an onsen, letting the heat soak into old bones. It'd been a long time since he'd had a chance to relax like this, arms draped over smooth black, polished rocks, hair wild and wet, cascading around him. It's all too comfortable and he feels lazy and langorous. So when he senses that unmistakeable bite of chakra ebbing from the distance, what urgency he has to leave all this behind for that mask is rather nonexistent...

Especially when the Akatsuki cloak is nowhere in sight.

He all too slowly clamps down on his chakra, putting out any flicker of flame. No reason for panic, after all. It's only Deidara.]

[Deidara's sure he's caught onto Tobi's chakra signature now; though he didn't expect the brat to be in Kiri, of all places. Tobi was always good at hiding, though, and Deidara'd realized already how quickly ground could be covered here.

So, when he comes swooping over the onsen, he's not expecting someone entirely different. His bird banks, reflecting its master's confusion, and he peers down at this new man, whose chakra has already been hidden. Deidara's sure he was the source of the signature, though.

[ Oh, well, if it isn't Madara's favorite melodramatic artist. He likes the confusion he can sense even with his chakra suppressed, and lifts a hand, dripping with water, up as he shields his eyes with it, directing his vision skyward. Deidara cuts a silhouette against the sun, which glows all around him. ]

You're blocking the sun.

[ His voice is nothing like the high-pitched whine that is Tobi's. It's low and smooth and sultry. Smoke and oil and spice. ]

[Deidara isn't entirely sure how to react. This isn't Tobi, no way. But the chakra signature that had been here had to be the little masked idiot, Deidara knew that signature.]

Too bad, un. You seen an idiot in an orange mask?

[He's not sure why he doesn't just leave.]

There's no one here but me.

[ The words are delivered with a certain authority, and no hesitance. Water runs down his arm, drips slowly, as he continues to shield his eyes from the halo of sunlight surrounding Deidara. ]

...and now, you.

Hmph. [After a moment Deidara leaps off of his bird, which comes to rest beside him, waiting for orders.] Who're you, anyway?

[info]parousian

June 17 2009, 14:59:07 UTC 2 years ago

Ah. Me? I would be the Mizukage.

[ Madara's mouth curls into a smirk. ]

Who are you?

[ His eyes seem to narrow in on the boy's hitai-ate ]

Missing-nin, hmm?

[info]clayfireworks

June 17 2009, 15:07:36 UTC 2 years ago

[Deidara confused Tobi's signature with the Mizukage? That's not like him. But the signatures must have been similar, at least, or maybe Tobi had been here earlier. Deidara's face screws up into a frown.]

Yeah. So? I'm not blowing up your village, un.

[Yet. It's always "yet" with Deidara.]

I hope you don't decide to start doing that. I'd have get up to kill you, and I'm rather comfortable at the moment.

[ As if to punctuate the statement, Madara gives a content sigh, lashes drooping down to half-mast. His fingers skim down over his cheek and jaw back down to the water, before sliding up against the rock as he leans back more against it, steam rising all around him from the water. It almost looks like he's barely paying Deidara any attention, but he's watching him through his lashes. Curious to see what he would do. How he would act. He's so different, this boy, when he's not angry and trying to prove himself to the world and make it see him the way he sees himself. ]

You wouldn't stand a chance, un.

[It's strange, to be standing around making conversation with the Mizukage. But this whole situation is strange, and so Deidara's willing to adapt a bit. But mostly he's biding his time, trying to figure out the rules of the world so he can break them as he pleases. He's watching the Mizukage, half ninja paranoia, half curiosity.]

[ Chuckles low and soft, lashes rising only enough for Madara's eyes to travel up over the boy. ]

It's dangerous to make assumptions...

[info]clayfireworks

June 18 2009, 00:45:00 UTC 2 years ago

I don't have to assume. [He smirks, his usual overconfidence shining.]

June 18 2009, 00:46:36 UTC 2 years ago

Hn.

[ It's an amused breath. He raises an eyebrow, gaze lazy and unaffected, then lets his eyes close as his head falls back against the rocks. Deidara, Deidara, Deidara. Always so presumptuous. It'll get him killed one day. ]

You're the weirdest kage I've ever met, un.

[Normally he's gotten in a fight by now, when it comes to running into a villager from any of the hidden villages. Especially a kage. Deidara tilts his head, like a cat getting a better look at something that interests it.]

[info]parousian

June 18 2009, 00:58:20 UTC 2 years ago

Oh, you've met many kages?

[ The question is asked without the respect of a proper look. Madara's eyes are closed, but he can imagine the look on Deidara's face. ]

[info]clayfireworks

June 18 2009, 00:59:22 UTC 2 years ago

A few, un. I killed one.

[Deidara doesn't like being ignored. He moves closer.]

Did you? Quite an accomplishment.

[ It's a low murmur, and Madara glances up at Deidara when his proximity is close enough -- but only for a moment. His attention drops down to the porcelain flask of umeshuu that is chilling in cold water in a wooden bucket he has in arm's reach and plucks it out, pouring into a small cup. ]

And how did you manage that?

[ And Madara knows that it was with quite a bang. But he's curious to hear how Deidara will tell the story. He raises the ochoko to his lips and slowly drinks. The coolness is a lovely contrast to the heat, he thinks. ]

June 18 2009, 01:12:56 UTC 2 years ago

[Deidara grins, his wide, violent grin. His eyes spark with pleasure at getting to show off, and really, what's a better way to do so than to show his talents? His hand spits out a small clay bird, and he sends it flying.]

Art.

[The bird explodes, spectacularly.]

June 18 2009, 01:20:30 UTC 2 years ago Edited:  June 18 2009, 01:23:10 UTC

[ That was rather unsurprising. Madara's smirk curls against the lip of his cup, and he finishes the contents of it, licking the sweet tartness off his lips before he refills. ]

It must have been beautiful.

[ He knows too well how much Deidara loves the ephemeral nature of explosions. The spark and the heat and the blast. Smoke in the air. The sheer passionate violence of it. He knows even more how much Deidara loves himself, and loves to be praised, loves to be coddled and given attention he believes he deserves. ]

[Deidara's eyes glaze a bit, as he remembers. His smile, a hint at the madness that lies in him, doesn't fade.]

There's nothing better, un. Just for a second there's everything at once, and then nothing. Forever.

[Art is a bang. His grin widens.]

[info]parousian

June 18 2009, 01:28:01 UTC 2 years ago

You must be very talented... Why are you a Missing-nin? Surely Iwa could use someone with your skill.

[ The words are like velvet, a trap laid. The wine is sweet and crisp. ]

[info]clayfireworks

June 18 2009, 01:31:31 UTC 2 years ago

[Deidara is pleased at being praised, and it shows as he fluffs himself up like a particularly proud peacock.]

Tch, they never understood. Art's what matters, and if you get in the way of my art, then you're worthless. Hardly worth canvas material if you don't understand it, un. But I make them understand, in the end.

[info]parousian

June 18 2009, 01:34:09 UTC 2 years ago

Surely, they didn't deserve you... or your art.

[ The noose has been thrown, and now Madara slowly starts to draw it in tight. He refills the cup, but this time offers it up to Deidara in outstretched fingers, dripping with water. ]
